Refer a Friend – how it works

Modified on Thu, 29 Oct at 6:33 PM

Any Wirex One member can invite friends, wherever they live and whatever their tier. Share your personal link, and when your friend joins and starts using Wirex One, you can earn up to $300 for each referral. Your referral rewards are paid in USD to your Rewards balance, alongside your cashback.

You earn in two ways:

  • Spending rewards — as your friend pays with their Wirex One card, you earn a reward each time their total spend reaches a new milestone. Up to $100 in total.
  • Tier rewards — as your friend grows their portfolio and moves up to Elite, Private or Bespoke, you earn a reward once they've kept that tier for 30 days in a row. Up to $200, depending on their tier.

Both start counting once your friend is Qualified, and they run at the same time.

Invite a friend

1

In the Rewards Center, tap Refer a Friend. You can also go to your profile and tap Invite Friends.

2

Tap Share your link and choose how to send it. To copy only the link, tap the copy icon next to it.

3

That's it — once your friend signs up with your link, you'll see them under Friends invited.

Tip: The first time you open Refer a Friend, you'll see a short introduction. To see it again, tap the info icon.

What your friend needs to do

1

Sign up with your link. Ask your friend to open your link before they create their account. The link is connected to their account at sign-up and can't be added later.

2

Verify their identity within 30 days after signing up. Once verified, your friend is Qualified and your rewards start counting.

3

Spend with their card and grow their tier. This is what earns you rewards — see below.

What Qualified means: Your friend is Qualified when they've signed up with your link and verified their identity within 30 days after signing up. From then on, you can earn two types of rewards: spending rewards as they use their card, and a tier reward once they reach a higher tier. You'll see the Qualified status on your friend's details.

Spending rewards

You earn a reward each time your friend's total card spend reaches a new milestone within 45 days of becoming Qualified.

  • $100 total eligible spend — you earn $10 ($10 in total so far)
  • $500 total eligible spend — you earn $15 ($25 in total so far)
  • $2,000 total eligible spend — you earn $25 ($50 in total so far)
  • $5,000 total eligible spend — you earn $50 ($100 in total so far)

A purchase counts towards the milestones when it earns your friend cashback. Your friend can see this on each purchase in their activity. Excluded transactions are listed in How cashback works.

When you get it. Your reward is added as soon as your friend's total spend reaches a milestone. There's no waiting period. A purchase counts once it's completed, which usually takes a few days after your friend pays.

Tier rewards

You earn a tier reward when your friend moves up to Elite, Private or Bespoke. The higher their tier, the bigger your reward.

  • Elite — you earn $25
  • Private — you earn $100
  • Bespoke — you earn $200

Here's how it works. Once your friend is Qualified, they have 90 days to reach one of these tiers. When they do, a 30-day count begins. If they stay on that tier for the full 30 days, you get the reward for it in one go.

You earn one tier reward for each friend.

If your friend moves to another tier along the way, the count simply starts again on the new tier. As long as the 30 days end within the 90-day window, the reward is yours.

Examples

  • Straight to Bespoke — your friend reaches Bespoke and keeps it for 30 days. You earn $200.
  • A new start on a higher tier — your friend reaches Elite, and after 15 days moves up to Bespoke. The 30-day count starts again for Bespoke. Once they've kept Bespoke for 30 days, you earn $200.
  • A step back and a new start — your friend reaches Private on day 5, and on day 15 moves down to Base. The count stops there. On day 40, they move up to Elite, and a new 30-day count begins. By day 70, they've kept Elite for 30 days, well within the 90-day window, so you earn $25.

Tier requirements are in Wirex One Membership – how it works.

Your own tier. On Premium or higher, you get the full tier reward. On Base, you get 50% of it — reach at least Premium to unlock the full amount. We check your tier at the moment each tier reward is paid, so to get the full amount, make sure you're on Premium or higher when your friend completes their 30 days.

If you're a UK member, you get the full tier reward on any membership tier.

How much you can earn

You can earn up to $300 for each friend: up to $100 from spending rewards and up to $200 from the tier reward when your friend keeps Bespoke for 30 days.

You can invite as many friends as you like. Referral rewards have an annual limit per member.

If the programme changes, each friend keeps the terms that applied when they signed up.

Your invites and rewards progress

Your Refer a Friend screen shows your Total Earned and everyone under Friends invited, newest first.

  • Pending — your friend has signed up and isn't Qualified yet.
  • Earning — your friend is Qualified and more rewards are still available for this invite.
  • Achieved — your friend has reached every spending milestone and you've received your tier reward for this invite.
  • Expired — the reward period for this invite has ended.

To see one friend's progress:

1

In the Rewards Center, tap Refer a Friend.

2

Under Friends invited, tap your friend. If you've invited a lot of people, tap See All first.

3

That's it — you'll see whether your friend is Qualified, their Spend Rewards and Tier Rewards progress, and how many days are left for each.

Getting your rewards

You'll see your referral rewards in two places, and each shows something different:

  • Total Earned — on your Refer a Friend screen. It includes all your referral rewards, both In progress and Complete, so you can see how much your invites have earned in total.
  • Rewards balance — in the Rewards Center. It includes referral rewards once they're Complete, together with your cashback. This is the balance you redeem, within your monthly redemption cap.

Each referral reward also appears in your Rewards activity, in USD, with its status. A new reward shows as In progress, then as Complete once it's added to your Rewards balance.

To learn how redeeming works, see Your Rewards Balance.

FAQ

My friend signed up, but I can't see them
Your friend needs to sign up with your link, because a referral is connected at sign-up only. If your friend created their account without your link, they won't appear under Friends invited on your Refer a Friend screen, and this account can't earn referral rewards. The link can't be added after sign-up.

For your next invites, ask your friends to open your link first and then create their account in the app that opens.
Why is my friend Pending?
Your friend has signed up but isn't Qualified yet. To qualify, they need to verify their identity within 30 days after signing up.
Why is my friend Expired?
Either your friend didn't become Qualified within 30 days after signing up, or the 45-day and 90-day periods have ended. Rewards you've already earned for this invite stay yours.
Does my friend get a reward too?
Yes. Your friend gets 30 days of Premium trial after they verify. See Joined through a friend's invite? Your Premium trial.
Can I use my link for my own second account?
Refer a Friend is for inviting new people. Each person can have one Wirex One account.
One of my rewards shows as Failed
Contact our support team and we'll look into it.
My friend moved up a tier. Will I earn more?
You earn one tier reward for each friend. If your friend moves up before their 30 days are complete, the count starts again on the new tier and you earn the reward for that tier. Once the 30 days are complete and the reward is paid, it stays as it is.
Why did I get $50 instead of $100 for a tier reward?
On Base, you get half of the tier reward. To get the full amount for your next invites, be on Premium or higher on the reward date. See Tier rewards.
