Understanding network fees (gas)

Modified on Tue, 23 Jun at 2:23 PM

Every on-chain transaction requires a network fee — commonly referred to as a gas fee. This fee is paid to the blockchain network, not to Wirex One, and covers the cost of processing and validating your transaction.

What are network fees?

Network fees vary depending on:

  • The blockchain network — each network has its own fee structure (e.g. Ethereum fees differ from Tron or Solana).
  • Network congestion — fees increase when the network is busy and decrease during quieter periods.

Wirex One does not control or profit from network fees. The fee shown in the app reflects the current network conditions at the time of your transaction.

When are network fees charged?

Network fees apply to:

  • Sending crypto to an external wallet
Network fees are always shown in full on the Review screen before you confirm.

FAQ

Why did the fee change since I last checked?
Network fees fluctuate in real time based on blockchain activity. The fee shown on the Review screen reflects the current rate at the moment of your transaction.
Can I choose a lower fee?
Not directly — Wirex One automatically applies the optimal fee to ensure your transaction is processed in a timely manner.
Why is the fee higher on Ethereum than on other networks?
Ethereum typically has higher gas fees due to greater network demand. If fees are a concern, consider using an alternative network where supported — such as Tron or Solana.
Is the network fee included in the amount I send?
No — the network fee is deducted separately from your account balance. The full breakdown is shown on the Review screen before you confirm.
