Managing Your Security Settings

Modified on Tue, 2 Jun at 4:28 PM

Wirex One protects every transaction with strong authentication. You can manage your security methods — Passkeys and two-factor authentication (2FA) — directly from your Profile.

Your security methods

  • Passkey — biometric or device-based authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or device PIN). Fast, secure, and phishing-resistant.
  • Authenticator App (2FA) — a time-based one-time password (TOTP) generated by your authenticator app. A reliable backup for any device.

At least one method must be active at all times. When both are active, one is set as the priority method — shown with a green icon.

Icon states

  • No icon — method not set up
  • White icon — method active
  • Green icon — method active and set as priority

How to add 2FA (when you have a Passkey)

1

Go to ProfileSecurity.

2

Tap Authenticator App.

3

Complete Passkey authentication to confirm.

4

Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or enter the key manually.

5

Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app.

6

2FA is activated — you'll see a confirmation toast.

How to add a Passkey (when you have 2FA)

1

Go to ProfileSecurity.

2

Tap Add Passkey.

3

Complete 2FA verification to confirm.

4

Follow the native device prompt (Face ID / Touch ID / PIN).

5

Your Passkey is registered — you'll see a confirmation toast.

Note: If biometrics are not enabled on your device, you'll be prompted to allow them in your system settings before proceeding.

How to set a priority method

When both methods are active, you can choose which one is used by default.

1

Go to ProfileSecurity.

2

Tap the method with the white icon to set it as priority.

3

Confirm in the bottom sheet.

4

The selected method now shows a green icon.

How to delete all Passkeys

You can delete all Passkeys at once, as long as 2FA is active as a backup.

1

Go to ProfileSecurity.

2

Tap Delete in the Passkeys section.

3

Confirm the action.

4

All Passkeys are removed. 2FA becomes your priority method automatically.

How to remove 2FA

You can remove 2FA as long as at least one Passkey is active.

1

Go to ProfileSecurity.

2

Tap Authenticator App.

3

Tap Remove Authenticator.

4

2FA is deactivated. Your Passkey becomes the priority method automatically.

App Lock

App Lock adds an extra layer of protection by requiring authentication every time you open Wirex One. It is enabled by default.

To manage App Lock, go to ProfileSecurity and toggle App Lock on or off.

When App Lock is active, you'll be prompted to authenticate — via Passkey or 2FA — each time the app is opened or brought back from the background.

FAQ

Can I disable all security methods?
No — at least one method must always be active. If you attempt to remove your only active method, you'll see an error: "Failed to remove. Add another method first."
Can I have multiple Passkeys?
Yes — you can register multiple Passkeys on different devices. However, all Passkeys can only be deleted at once, not individually.
Can I have multiple authenticator apps?
No — only one authenticator app (2FA) can be active at a time.
What is a priority method?
The priority method is your default authentication method — used first when a security check is required. It's shown with a green icon. When only one method is active, it is automatically the priority.
Can I change my priority method?
Yes — tap the method with the white icon in the Security screen to set it as the new priority. Confirm in the bottom sheet and the icons will update accordingly.
What happens if I cancel Passkey registration?
If you cancel the native device prompt during Passkey setup, the process is abandoned and no changes are made.
What if my 2FA code is invalid?
Codes expire every 30 seconds — make sure you're entering the current code shown in your authenticator app. If the issue persists, check that your device time is synced correctly.
What happens to my priority method when I delete Passkeys?
If 2FA was previously the secondary method, it automatically becomes the priority once all Passkeys are removed.
What is App Lock?
App Lock requires you to authenticate every time you open Wirex One, keeping your account secure even if your device is accessed by someone else. It's enabled by default and can be toggled in ProfileSecurity.
Can I turn off App Lock?
Yes — go to ProfileSecurity and toggle off App Lock. We recommend keeping it on for maximum account security.
