Keeping Your Account Secure

Modified on Tue, 23 Jun at 3:17 PM

A few simple habits make a significant difference. Here's how to keep your Wirex One account as secure as possible.

You are the sole owner of your wallet. Wirex One is non-custodial — we do not hold your keys, cannot access your wallet, and cannot recover your funds if access is lost. It is your responsibility to keep your private key, Passkey, and authenticator app safe, backed up, and always accessible. Never delete them, never lose them, and never share them. If you lose access to all your authentication methods and your private key, access to your funds cannot be restored — by anyone.

Set up strong authentication

Use a Passkey

Passkey is the most secure authentication method available in Wirex One. It uses your device's biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or device PIN) — making it phishing-resistant and significantly harder to compromise than a password.

Set it up in ProfileSecurityAdd Passkey.

Enable 2FA with an Authenticator App

Add a second layer of security with a time-based one-time password (TOTP) from an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy.

Set it up in ProfileSecurityAuthenticator App.

Keep App Lock on

App Lock requires authentication every time you open Wirex One. It's on by default — keep it that way.

Manage it in ProfileSecurityApp Lock.

Protect your device

  • Keep your operating system and apps up to date — security patches matter.
  • Use a strong, unique device PIN or biometric lock.
  • Never leave your device unlocked and unattended.
  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi for financial transactions. Use a VPN if you must.
  • Only install apps from official app stores.

Protect your credentials

  • Never share your 2FA codes or Passkey with anyone.
  • Never share your private key — with anyone, ever.
  • Use a unique password for Wirex One — do not reuse it elsewhere.
  • Consider a password manager for secure storage.

Stay alert

  • Be suspicious of any unsolicited contact claiming to be from Wirex One.
  • Verify URLs before logging in — bookmark the official app.
  • If something feels wrong, trust your instincts — stop and verify through official channels.

What to do if you think your account has been compromised

1

Review recent Activity in the app for any transactions you don't recognise.

2

Remove any unknown authentication methods in ProfileSecurity.

3

Move your funds to a new wallet if you believe your private key has been exposed.

4

Contact Wirex One support via the in-app chat — explain what happened and we will assist you.

FAQ

Someone logged into my account without my knowledge. What do I do?
Act immediately — review and remove any unrecognised authentication methods, and contact Wirex One support. If any funds were moved, provide the transaction details so we can investigate.
Is Passkey safer than 2FA?
Yes — Passkey is phishing-resistant and tied to your physical device. It cannot be intercepted, replicated, or transferred remotely. We recommend using both for maximum protection.
Can I use Wirex One on multiple devices?
Yes — register a Passkey on each device you use. Manage all registered Passkeys in ProfileSecurity.
What if I lose my phone?
If you have 2FA set up, you can still access your account from another device. Contact Wirex One support if you need help recovering access. This is why having both Passkey and 2FA configured is strongly recommended.
