How to start the KYC verification process
Modified on Tue, 23 Jun at 2:17 PM
Some features in Wirex One require identity verification. This is a standard regulatory requirement that helps us keep the platform secure for everyone.
When is identity verification required?
You'll be prompted to verify your identity when you try to access certain features, such as activating your Wirex One card. At that point, you'll also be asked to confirm your country of residence.
What to expect
Verification is handled in-app and takes just a few minutes to complete. You'll need:
- A valid government-issued photo ID (passport, national ID card, or driving licence)
- A selfie, taken in the app
How to verify your identity
When prompted, tap to begin identity verification.
Select your document type.
Take a photo of the front and back of your document.
Take a selfie for facial verification.
Submit and wait for confirmation.
How long does it take?
Verification is usually completed quickly, but can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the volume of submissions. In some cases, additional information may be requested.
Your card and any other features requiring verification will be available as soon as the process is complete. We'll notify you when you're good to go.
What documents are accepted?
We accept government-issued photo ID that includes your full name, date of birth, photo, and expiry date. This includes:
- Passport
- National identity card
- Driving licence
Documents must be valid and in full colour. A residence permit is not accepted as a valid form of ID.FAQ
Why do I need to verify my identity?
My verification is taking longer than expected. What should I do?
Can I use Wirex One without verifying my identity?
Is my personal data safe?
My selfie keeps failing. What should I do?
A few things that help:
- Make sure you're in a well-lit environment with no strong light source directly behind you
- Look straight at the camera and keep your face fully in frame
- Remove glasses if you're wearing them
- Make sure your face is not obscured in any way
If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the app and starting the verification process again.
Will I need to verify my identity again if I get a new phone?
